Salary: $25 - $37 per hour with regular overtime

The Wildfire Mitigation Specialist is responsible for the safe and effective property conservation during a response incident and the application of LTR during weekdays. Deploying in response situations will be the primary objective of this position. Around response the Wildfire Mitigation Specialist will supervise all seasonal LTR applicators. Ensuring each job is completed accurately/up to standards and maintaining a clean job site. Ensure all jobs are fully completed and left clean before leaving the job. Working on job sites you must be OSHA compliant and practice excellent communication with your team on the safety and quality of the job. You will be expected to practice professionalism while communicating with all customers and team members.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and supervise the applications of long-term fire retardants on commercial and residential properties.
  • Keep equipment and all response gear in good working order.
  • Develops and maintains logs and records of incidents, time spent, tools and equipment used
  • Follows company and industry safety guidelines and regulations
  • Ensure proper application of all products.
  • Service customer properties during Rapid Response Deployment by prepping properties ahead of a wildfire.
  • Perform engine operations duties including running the pump, deploying hoselays, completing preventative engine maintenance checks, and effectively using water and additives.
  • Apply knowledge of fuels, terrain, weather, and fire behavior to decisions and actions.
  • Use and maintain personal protection equipment (PPE).
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to use fire pumps and properly perform hose evolutions.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Excellent customer service and ability to work well with others.
  • Ability to work 24-48 hour shifts

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods standing, bending, lift, squatting
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and outdoors
  • Ability to be on your feet fall day, walking on uneven terrain
  • Must be able to lift 75 lbs. and maintain the physical fitness level necessary to effectively and safely perform preparation and suppression responsibilities.

Education and Experience

  • Certified wildland firefighter 2
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Related experience required
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered.
