The Wildfire Mitigation Senior Lead is responsible for leading multiple Fire Prevention Crews during incidents and in day to day responsibilities, managing all team lead and wildland firefighters. Communicating directly with the Regional Fire Officer to maintain equipment, inventory, ordering and training. Deploy on Rapid Response incidents, act as a liaison on incidents and assist on properties as needed. Run day to day operations for the response team. You will be expected to practice professionalism while communicating with all customers and team members. Assist the Regional Fire Officer in the day to day operations and management of crews. Complete evaluations of residential and commercial properties and oversee building the mitigation plans for client properties.

Responsibilities

  • Top priority will be communicating with the Regional Fire Officer during response situations and ensuring all safety practices are followed and avoidable harm is prevented during an incident.
  • Manage, supervise and participate in incident response, pre-suppression, defensible space and mitigation plans.
  • Build fire prevention mitigation plans for customer properties.
  • Assist the Regional Fire Officer in day to day operations of the department.
  • Collaborate on the development of policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Develop and implement crew training
  • Oversee truck, equipment and PPE maintenance and preparation.
  • Manage crews on Rapid Response deployments and incidents.
  • Keep equipment in good working order, assist the Regional Fire Officer with inventory and equipment maintenance.
  • Develops and maintains logs and records of incidents, time spent, tools and equipment used
  • Follows company and industry safety guidelines and regulations
  • Escalate any issues to the Regional Fire Officer’
  • Perform Defensible space and home hardening evaluations
  • Perform annual visits to customers properties
  • Any off season duties as assigned
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Management and wildland fire experience preferred.
  • Ability to use fire pumps and properly perform hose evolutions.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Excellent customer service and ability to work well with others.
  • Ability to work 24-48 hour shifts

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods standing, bending, lift, squatting
  • Ability to be on your feet fall day, walking on uneven terrain
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and outdoors
  • Must be able to lift 75 lbs.

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Related experience preferred
  • Firefighter 1 or higher
